Hazrat Abu Sa’id al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Hasan Yasar al-Basri (رحمة الله عليه) was one of the most renowned early Islamic scholars, saints, and Sufis. He was born in Madinah Munawwarah and later settled in Basra, Iraq, where he became a leading authority in Islamic knowledge and spirituality.

He is counted among the Tabi‘in (the generation after the Sahaba) and is reported to have met several companions of Rasool-e-Pak (ﷺ). He was known for his deep piety, wisdom, and powerful teachings on zuhd (asceticism), sincerity, and fear of Allah.

He is also regarded in many Sufi traditions as spiritually connected (through silsila) to Maula Ali (عليه السلام), but he was not a political caliph. His influence was mainly in the field of knowledge, spirituality, and moral guidance.

He is remembered for his humility, devotion, and impactful sermons that continue to inspire Muslims. His blessed resting place is in Basra, Iraq.
